Everton have not yet signed any new players in the January transfer window – but that could soon change.
The managerial situation has now been sorted out after much speculation, with David Moyes replacing Sean Dyche at the helm.
Dyche informed The Friedkin Group he’d taken Everton as far as he could, and that prompted TFG to start negotiating his severance package.
Moyes has now come in, ready for his second spell in charge – and he takes his first game tonight against Aston Villa.
Paul Merson is predicting that Villa will beat Everton, but many feel the Scot might just pull something out of the bag on his first game back at Goodison Park.
Moyes has a huge job on his hands, and there’s little doubt that he needs new signings – and top journalist David Ornstein has revealed what TFG could do in the coming weeks.
Everton could sign two attackers – one established and one for the future
Yesterday, David Ornstein spoke about Everton after their busy past few days replacing Dyche with Moyes.
He revealed that in the end, Moyes was really their only choice given the circumstances.
But he also talked about what TFG could do now in the transfer market – and there are two signings the new owners may consider making. Ornstein says Moyes could certainly look to sign a player on the attacking side, with potentially two coming in.
He told NBC Sports: “Recruitment is high on the agenda. There is some money being made available by The Friedkin Group. But they still have to comply with PSR – there is some work to do there.
“I think we could see a couple of new faces come in, certainly on the attacking side, maybe one for the here and now ready to hit the ground running, maybe one for the future as well.”
Everton are looking at several attackers
It is intriguing that Ornstein has said Everton could well bring in two new attacking players this month.
But that does make sense, because speculation remains over Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who’s wanted by Atalanta amongst others.
Beto is also a target for Como.
Ernest Nuamah is a player Everton have interest in, and he could potentially count as the player for the future Ornstein was talking about.
As would Evan Ferguson, who’s another player on Everton’s radar.
Perhaps Everton may go for Igor Jesus as the player who could make an impact right now, with the Brazilian having a bit more experience.
