A big talking point on Merseyside is what position should be Everton’s top priority in the January transfer window.
There is little doubt that David Moyes would have a number of additions on his radar for the winter market, but it is proving a difficult one to deal in.
Everton are yet to see any new faces walk through the doors at Finch Farm over the opening two weeks of the window.
On the back of an encouraging summer window, the Friedkins handed Moyes their financial backing for January.
Clearly, that has not translated into signings as the window nears its halfway point.
A new development on Merseyside may even have slightly altered Moyes’ priorities for the remaining weeks of the market.

Everton development may tweak January transfer plans
It has been suggested that Everton are keen to sign new full-backs before the end of the window.
A lack of quality and depth is clear at both right and left-back, but there are other positional needs on Merseyside.
On Thursday, Seamus Coleman made his return to Everton training on the back of his hamstring injury picked up against Manchester United.
Seamus Coleman is almost back… does that make a right-back less of a priority in the transfer market? 🧐
Suddenly, this brings another option back into Moyes’ thinking at right-back, adding to Jake O’Brien and Nathan Patterson.
There have been reports claiming that Patterson could depart Everton before the window shuts, but a replacement would have to be signed.
Although Coleman has been far from the starting right-back this season, potentially having him back in the squad would be a big boost for Moyes.
Everton are keen to sign a new striker having already made their move for Youssef En-Nesyri of Fenerbahce.
With Coleman returning to the fold, perhaps more of a focus can be placed in signing a striker before the Blues consider their options at right-back.
Everton must make sure a right-back is signed
Although Coleman’s return may allow Everton to shift the focus slightly, there still has to be a new right-back added before the window shuts.
O’Brien has spoken about returning to centre-back in the future having been forced to fill in on the right side of the defence.
Five assists this season… this would be a huge upgrade for Everton! 🤩
Could this be the right-back Everton need to transform the team?
There have been some reports suggesting that Everton are looking at their options to improve the position.
Everton have shown an interest in Emil Holm of Bologna among a number of other right-back options.
There is still plenty of time for the Everton recruitment team to make their moves in the window, but this may make for an interesting twist in priorities back at Finch Farm.
