Everton’s 2024/25 campaign could not have gotten off to much of a worse start if they tried following their 3-0 loss on Saturday.
The defeat on the weekend to Brighton & Hove Albion came despite what has been a relatively successful summer market for the Toffees.
Kevin Thelwell has brought in four promising signings over the summer but only one of them was actually on display with Tim Iroegbunam starting in midfield.
Sean Dyche issued a blunt message to the Everton fans after the defeat with empty seats seen across the stadium following a late substitution that saw Mason Holgate brought on.
It is not the start which the Blues would have hoped for but there is still time in the window for Everton to do some business.
One player who Everton have shown an interest in is Tammy Abraham and Fabrizio Romano has just shared the latest he’s heard on the the Roma striker.

What Fabrizio Romano has just said about Everton target Tammy Abraham
Abraham is not the only striker who is believed to be on the radar at Goodison Park with Vitor Roque also of interest to Everton.
However, for Abraham, his place in Rome is believed to be under real threat this summer with the striker looking for a new opportunity.
And Romano has now claimed that despite reports elsewhere, he has not heard anything being imminent for Abraham.

Abraham has also been linked with a potential move within Serie A to AC Milan but Romano has shared what he has heard.
“Despite reports, I’m not aware of anything imminent now for Abraham,” Romano said in his Daily Briefing.
“I don’t have confirmation on West Ham, for Saudi there are different movements now so it’s not something close or concrete. Abraham has been high on Milan’s list for weeks but they’ve many players and they decided to invest on different positions.”
Everton’s need for a striker was evident in Brighton loss
Despite bringing in Iliman Ndiaye over the summer, Dominic Calvert-Lewin got the nod from Dyche against the Seagulls.
Calvert-Lewin could still be on the move from Everton this summer with his contract situation still seeing him play into the final 12 months of his deal.
But the Englishman was withdrawn after 76 minutes having failed to make an impression at all.
Here is Calvert-Lewin’s display vs Brighton in numbers…
- 76 minutes played
- 20 touches
- 0 shots
- 6X possession lost
- 3/7 aerial duels won
- 2 offsides
There is not a lot of time left in the window but a new striker does appear to be one of the areas which Everton could really do with being improved.
