Everton have a number of players set to leave the club at the end of the season when their contracts expire.

There is a big summer ahead for Everton in a number of ways with plenty going on around Merseyside.

Kevin Thelwell’s future at Everton remains uncertain with the director of football’s contract also set to come to an end in the summer.

If Thelwell does remain on Merseyside, he is going to have one busy summer ahead of him in sorting out new contracts and signings for David Moyes.

Everton are keen to hand three new contracts out to the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye.

However, there is one Everton player who is already believed to have held talks with other clubs over a potential move in the summer.

Everton’s Idrissa Gana Gueye holds talks with other clubs

Moyes is keen for Gueye to sign a new deal at Everton with the midfielder playing a big role in his starting XI.

The Senegal midfielder has remained a consistent figure in the Everton side across the two managers this season.

Speaking to Africa Foot, football agent Bassirou Sakho has claimed Gueye is already in talks with other clubs over a potential move away from Merseyside.

“When his contract expires in June, he will be the only one to decide whether he wants a sporting or financial challenge at this advanced stage of his career,” Sakho said.

“In any case, there is no doubt that a number of clubs are already in talks with the player, who is, with four months to go before the end of his contract, free to discuss with the potential targets of his choice.”

Gueye has hinted towards staying at Everton after saying he wanted to play European football with the Toffees.

But it will be up to the club to reach an agreement with the 35-year-old who has clearly collected interest with his performances this season.

Everton need to sign Gueye to a new contract

Moyes has been really impressed with Gueye since making his return to Goodison Park in January.

The midfielder has started 24 games this season in the Premier League alone showing he was also of great importance to Sean Dyche.

Orel Mangala is now out for the season through injury, which will naturally cast doubt over a potential permanent deal for the Lyon midfielder.

With this in mind, Everton could be set to lose Mangala and Gueye over the summer.

This will leave the Toffees with some significant work to do in the market with a new deal for Gueye feeling like a real homerun for the Friedkins.
